How Social Media Can Effect Your Mental Health

I’ve been reminiscing about how social media had changed our lives for the worse or the better, some people have limited social media do to its effects on your mood and you mind as you scroll endlessly through Instagram and wonder why your life isn’t as beautiful as a model’s, or why you’re not as pretty or witty as someone else, and then you start to get a sense of low self esteem and realize that you’re wasting your life through these posts that aren’t having a positive effect on you at all. This is when you realize that you can improve where you are and start making projects that inspire you instead of wasting time trying to look pretty on the internet and constantly comparing yourself to others. However, that’s not to say that you aren’t beautiful and unique, you are just the way you are, but when you’re staring at models and rich people, you tend to self doubt, or at least I do, like “oh I don’t have what they have” or “oh they’re always that gorgeous and I’m not” all these heightened negative thoughts start coming to mind almost to the point where you start tearing yourself down over nothing. I think it can have a super negative impact on your self esteem and can raise serious issues with self respect and losing what’s most important, how beautiful you are on the inside as well as the outside. Everybody has something that makes them unique, and finding that within yourself is probably one of the most important things to become mentally healthy. I have learned so many fun ideas from the internet and some of these may sound weird (avocado milkshakes what?) or having healthy cleaning habits (so cleaning is fun? I don’t get it). There are many more ideas that I’ve adopted and would love to share with others and be able to connect within the community so that hopefully I can create a positive impact on people’s lives.
